Meet the Team!
Scottie Schmalz-Hope was born and raised in Southeast Idaho. She graduated from Idaho State University with a bachelor's Degree in Zoology in 2001. To celebrate her graduation, she took a trip to Europe. The trip didn’t go exactly as planned. Shortly after she arrived in Italy, she suffered a devastating knee injury. Upon her return to Southeast Idaho, she underwent surgery to repair her knee and began many months of rehabilitation. As a patient herself, she discovered her calling in Physical Therapy during this time.
In 2005, Scottie graduated from Idaho State University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Scottie’s first job as a licensed physical therapist was in the same outpatient orthopedic clinic she had been a patient in just a few years earlier! In 2008, Scottie earned recognition as a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) from the American Board of Wound Management. Also in 2008, Scottie earned her Certified Lymphedema Certification (CLT) from the Norton School of Lymphedema Management. Scottie has experience as a physical therapist in outpatient orthopedics, neurological rehabilitation, and pediatric rehabilitation.
Scottie’s 20 years of experience have led her to open a practice in edema management. Edema is more commonly referred to as swelling. Swelling can be caused by multiple medical conditions. No matter the underlying cause, swelling can decrease a patient’s quality of life and lead to severe complications. At Edema Therapy Solutions, we work to identify the cause of edema and to provide practical and sustainable therapeutic solutions. Contact us today; we are here to help!
